A new look!

If you haven’t visited Kittanning Online lately, you will notice we have a new look. We changed the theme, not for aesthetic reasons alone but because of continued software conflicts and other issues.

We still have the same great articles about Kittanning.

Our contact form for private messages to the administrators is now functional as is the link submission form.

  1. I am interested in finding more info on my great-grandfather, William Gates, who founded an iron forge plant in Kittanning @1830. He came prior to that from Ireland and settled in Pittsburgh for a short time before going to Kittanning. He had several sons, one named James who served in the Civil War, and one named William, who took over for him at the forge. That William had several sons including a William (would you believe that there could be more Bill Gates’ in my family (I have a brother Bill) than the ‘real’ Bill Gates of Microsoft fame? Another son, Herbert G. Gates, was my grandfather. My father, Alfred, moved to Turtle Creek and raised most of his very large family there.
My interest is in finding out about this forge company that there is very little info about. 3 years ago I was in Kittanning for a short time and could get nowhere on that point. Could you help me?

  2. I would be glad to pay for a copy plus have any other info you might be able to send.
